Renovating a drainage channel in a working yard

This is an illustrative application scenario, not a record of a completed NA-ME delivery. A yard drainage renovation can address damaged channel edges and standing water, provided the channel, grating and discharge route are assessed together.

The problem to address

Consider a service yard where water collects beside a loading area and the existing drainage channel has damaged edges. Replacing the visible grating alone may leave the original problem unresolved: surface falls, blocked outlets or insufficient flow capacity can still restrict drainage.

A solution to evaluate

Evaluate a NA-ME polymer concrete channel with a compatible grating and edge or frame detail as a coordinated replacement. Survey the existing line first, then select the channel dimensions and outlet arrangement for the drainage design and available installation depth.

  • Define the catchment, design rainfall or process-water inflow, surface levels and discharge point; verify hydraulic capacity along the complete run.
  • Record vehicle routes, wheel loads and any turning or braking over the channel. Select the channel, grating, edge detail and load class as one system.
  • Coordinate bedding, concrete surround, joints and connections with the selected system instructions and the adjacent pavement.
  • Provide access for cleaning and inspection; assess grating openings and walking surfaces for the intended users.

Technical limits and verification

Channel width alone does not establish flow capacity, and a grating rating does not establish the capacity of the whole installation. Where EN 1433 is specified, request evidence for the proposed channel assembly and installation conditions.

Check the actual liquid, chemical concentration and operating temperature before selecting materials and seals. This scenario makes no claim of a flood-free, maintenance-free installation or a measured reduction in downtime.

Discuss this application

Send NA-ME the run length, levels, available depth, outlet positions, traffic description and photographs of the existing drainage. Include quantities and destination to request a coordinated channel-and-grating quotation.
